A young boy aged nineteen struggles to protect and provide for his mother and brothers during the early years of the Nazi occupation of Poland. He is sent to Auschwitz, then to Sachsenhausen. As the war comes to an end this is followed by a death march to the north of the Third Reich.
He survives. He returns to Poland, which is now occupied by Stalin and Soviet Russia.
